Transportation Engineering Technician TET3 (05B-11-003)
WBCM is accepting applications for future consideration and approval by MD State Highway Administration for various district assignments throughout the state. Candidates must meet SHA's TET requirements.Additional construction inspection, project management experience or education preferred. Refer to Job #05B-11-003 when applying.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a State high school equivalence certificate
- Three years of full-time employment in highway engineering technician activities
- Applicants may substitute education in an engineering curriculum at an accredited junior college, college or university at the rate of thirty (30) semester credit hours for the one (1) year of required experience. We may give consideration to N.I.C.E.T. and/or other technician certifications, though they are not required.
Conditions of Employment:
- Applicants must be in good health and physically able to perform the duties required of the position. Applicants must be able to read, write, comprehend and fluently speak the English language.
- Applicants must have a valid driver's license
- Applicants must have a vehicle to travel to, from and while on the project site.
- Candidates must be willing to travel and be available for work in any part of the District, subject to change of assignment, as work requires. Candidates may also be required to work various shifts and on weekends depending on assignments
- Applicants will be required to successfully complete SHA Quality Assurance/Quality Control materials testing certifications in Hot Mix Asphalt, Concrete, and Soils, or their approved equivalent. The consultant firm or the consultant employees, not the State Highway Administration, will pay for the cost of the various certifications. Other construction related training may also be required.
Essential Requirements of Work:
Elementary knowledge of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and English; introductory knowledge of elementary engineering methods and techniques; ability to compute simple engineering data; to work from simple plans and specifications; to make drawings, tracings and accurate notes; to understand and follow written and oral instructions; to work effectively with others
