
Senior GIS Developer (08B-08-006) Applications are being accepted for future consideration and approval by MD State Highway Administration (SHA) for assignment at SHA’s Headquarters in Baltimore to work as an on-site as a Senior Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Developer.
The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 3 years experience with ESRI software and recent experience with ESRI web technology ARCIMS. Knowledge of GIS principles, techniques, and terminology is a must. Extensive knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS and ArcIMS software capabilities and commands, ArcGIS Server, HTML, VB.NET, ArcObjects, VBA, AML, Avenue, Java, XML ,Visual Studio and experience in environment connected to Oracle SDE databases will also be required.
Candidate shall have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Geography, Computer Science, Surveying and Mapping, Graphic Design or related field. A comparable amount of professional certification, education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications of the college degree.
Primary Responsibilities: Maintaining and building GIS applications for SHA, which include LRS--SHA’s linear referencing applications, TSD--SHA’s Transportation Spatial Database systems that supports data needs for all GIS and mapping projects, and SHAWME--SHA’s Web Map Engine. SHAWME is a .NET Arcims application for distributing Geographical information and a decision support systems supporting GIS and reporting needs to various SHA offices.
Experience in ArcSDE command line and trouble shooting, loading Raster Imagery, Re-projection, Dynamic Segmentation, and Transportation is a plus, but not a requirement. Â Position reports to SHA Project Manager. Refer to Job #08B-08-006 when applying.
