Duties:     

The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all-encompassing.  Each person is expected to help out in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule. 

The HR Assistant helps with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the HR departmental functions and duties.  The HR assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas:  Departmental development, HRIS input/output, employee relations, training and development, benefits, organizational development, executive administration, and employment. The HR Assistant will have partial responsibility for these areas:

  • Clerical support to the Vice President of Human Resources and Recruiting & Training Coordinator, as well as Departmental redundancy;
  • Learning all areas of Human Resources in order to function with a moderate degree of proficiency in the absence of the Departmental VP;
  • Recruiting efforts of the company—posting positions in accordance with Affirmative Action goals; Affirmative Action Plan preparation; Log, review and track resumes; Develop relationships with colleges/universities, staffing agencies and professional recruiters; Attend career fairs; Provide interview materials and other assistance as required to the hiring managers.

Experience:     

Previous internship in a professional HR office is preferred.

            

Skills:        

  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; comfortable dealing with diverse personality types;
  • Skills in database management and record keeping;
  • Able to exhibit high degree of confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to gather information, prioritize tasks, correctly identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Education:  

BS in Human Resource Management or BA/BS with a concentration in Human Resources

     

Working Conditions:      

Mostly inside office environment.  Lifting <20 lbs.  Some travel and overtime required.

  

Reports to: 

Vice President of Human Resources

Salary Type:                  

Hourly (1.5 overtime rate)
