Duties:                             The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all-       encompassing.  Each person is expected to help in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule. Candidate must be able to:

 

  • Support the existing applications HISD IT team maintains
  • Assist in the support and development of the Enterprise GIS (EGIS) for State Highway Administration
  • Maintain current Transportation Spatial database Application and assist with conversion
  • Maintain current calibration tool application and assist with conversion
  • Maintain SHAWME
  • Build new web based GIS application to participate in EGIS

 

Experience:                   3-5 years developing with ESRI ArcGIS server Object components in a web environment.

  

Skills:                           Candidate must have the ability to work with minimal direction, have excellent work habits and be flexible with the working environments. 

                                

In addition, the candidate must have:

  • Knowledge of principles, techniques and terminology of geographic information systems, including: Geo Databases, Geoprocessing, Geoprocessing Services, Linear Referencing, Spatial databases and ArcGis Desktop (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox)                        

  • Extensive knowledge of Java, .NET, ArcGIS Server objects
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows operating system, ArcObjects, VBA, AML, Avenue, XML and Team Foundation Server.

                                     

The following qualifications would be a plus:

  • Experience with ArcGIS Services including: Map Services, Image Services, Caching, creating Geoprocessing services
  • Software experience: Silverlight, C#, ASP.NET, ArcGis Mobile, Apache TomCat
  • Experience with SharePoint
  • Experience managing a versioned geodatabase, multi-user editing, including designing workflow and monitoring versioned performance
  •                            

 

Education:                    BA / BS from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Geography or related field.

 

 

Working Conditions:    Field office location

 

 

Reports to:                     Michael Deamer, Vice President Information and GIS Technology

 

 

Duration:                          Temporary position  

 

Salary Type:                   Salaried I (“exempt” - 0 overtime)
