Cross
Street Parking Garage
Federal Hill, City of Baltimore, MD

The
South Baltimore Parking Garage is a 35,000 GSF two-story
structure that is designed to accommodate and support
a future third floor. The structural framing consists
of precast concrete, double-tee floor members supported
by precast concrete beams and columns. The foundation
system consists of auger-cast, grouted piles supporting
reinforced concrete pile caps. The ground floor consists
of a concrete slab on grade. Reinforced concrete retaining
walls retain the adjacent sidewalks and roadways where
the ground floor occurs below grade. Elevator and stairwell
walls consist of precast concrete wall panels. The exterior
of the garage is faced with brick. At most locations,
the brick is supported by the precast concrete spandrel
beams.
Longwell
Parking Garage
Westminster, MD

Architectural
and engineering services for the design and construction
administration of a new parking garage in Westminster.
The design provided for a 345+ space parking structure,
with approximately 127 + ground level spaces. The garage
was designed to complement existing historic downtown
buildings. WBCM proposed a historical contextual design
utilizing stepped, brick veneered spandrels with precast
concrete string courses, glass enclosed metal stairway
and elevator shelters, painted handrails, and decorative
accent tiles, to echo the historic scale, height and
varied silhouette of Westminster's main Street as viewed
from the City Hall. The parking facility structure is
an economical, open-air, long-span precast concrete
double-tee structure, with no interior columns, with
interior lighting within the structure, and parapet
or low pole-mounted lighting on the upper level. The
garage has one hydraulic elevator and two internal stairwells.
North
Shore Parking Garage
Pittsburgh, PA

WBCM
provided structural engineering services required to
construct an eight-story, 850-space parking garage structure.
The foundation system consists of grade beams and caissons
while the superstructure is pre-cast, pre-stressed concrete
framing. The lowest level includes retail space facing
the streets and required a special waterproofing coating
applied overhead. Full construction phase services were
provided.
