WBCM
was responsible for the architectural, structural, site
design and construction document preparation of a new
SCRIF as a Design-Build project, administered by the
Engineering Field Activity Chesapeake of the U.S. Navy
(EFACHES). The facility is a 1,868 square meter one
story building, with a high-bay Vehicle Integration
Area (Garage) and associated mezzanine storage area,
Integration Laboratories, Training and Conference Rooms,
and Break, Shower and Locker Rooms. The facility will
provide for communications systems integration into
a variety of vehicles, as well as training, equipment
testing, and life-cycle support for projects tasked
to the Special Communications Requirements Division
(SCRD). In addition, this project will provide for a
cleared field of 11,150 square meters that will be used
to test both equipment and deployment procedures, along
with associated site-work, roads and parking areas.
The project required antiterrorism and sustainable design
criteria.
